PREPARATION OF FLOOR FOR INSTALLATION

Vinyl rubber tile flooring requires an even and smooth surface for proper adherence to the floor surface. The product conforms to whatever is on the subfloor when installed, so its important to look out for any object like nails sticking out from the subfloor for removal. Ensure that the floor upon which you want to lay your Vinyl rubber plank flooring is completely free of debris and particles.

There are different types of subfloor and they have their unique way of preparation to achieve a seamless and eye-catching flooring installation.
To ensure proper cleaning and preparation of your type of floor, do the following:

If you have an existing flooring like Linoleum or Carpet (Rug), its about time to take it out as Vinyl rubber plank tile cannot be laid on such existing floor.

Most of the spaces where we have installed our premium vinyl rubber plank tiles had either a terrazzo floor or a ceramic tiled floor, in this situation, the subfloor need not be removed as the Vinyl rubber plank tile can be installed on it as long as the subfloor is properly cleaned and free from holes, dust, debris or wood particles as this will not allow the rubber tiles stick properly on the subfloor even when the adhesive as been applied. Hence proper cleaning should be done. I recommend the subfloor should be mopped with non-reactive liquid soap and wait to dry before installation.

On our journey of given residential and commercial spaces high quality Vinyl rubber plank flooring, we have visited site where the subfloor was a German flooring. Vinyl rubber plank flooring only work well on a smooth surface without blemish. For German flooring, the floor is prepared by screeding with cement ( Read about screeding here) the German floor to achieve a uniform and smooth surface, allow to dry properly for about 3-4 days before installations. Clean thoroughly for any particle or dust.

  • Our luxury Vinyl rubber plank tiles as taken us to places and given us several hurdles which we successfully scaled through. Another flooring which if not handled professionally is the installation of the tiles on an uneven wooden subfloor with holes, the entire Vinyl rubber plank tile and the installation process will be a nightmare. In preparing this flooring, you can either install a ¼ or an ½ inch plyboard across board on the subfloor with screw or nail before installation of the rubber tile.
In all of these different types of subfloor, in preparing your floor, particularly pay rapt attention to corners and the skirting area, I.e, the space between the floor and walls, dust and particles have a way of hiding in such places.
